If i work under 16 hours a week will i get benefits, i have a baby on the way. UK?

I have a baby due in september, i currently work full time as a cover supervisor at a secondary school, i wish to go part time after maternity leave.

My husband doesnt work.

Will i be better off working 16 hours or under, will i get more benefits by doing this?

What am i entitled to?



We live in a council home.

I realy dont want to go back full time, studing Child Development at university for 4 years has made me appreciate how important the first few years of my daughters life will be for different developmental skills....therefore i feel that it is essential that i am there interacting with her from an early age..
