-I received this charge almost 5 years ago on 11/2006. I was just hired by wal-mart last week but it depends on my background check. Will they not hire me because of it? The charge is Class B Misdemeanor Theft. Disposition: Deffered Adjudication. Texas law states that Deffered doesn't count as a conviction. But I don't think this wal-mart is going to hire me because of it.
More info on the subject.
I'm currently living in TX but I lived in VA for a couple months this year. I was hired by Wal-Mart in VA a couple months back but was fired because of my background 3 days after working with them. I guess they looked at it as if I lied but I didn't. Texas Law states that it won't be looked at as a conviction. Anyway, Thanks for your help.Deferred adjudication charge from 5 years ago should have been dropped from your record if you met the terms. If you have already been hired by WalMart I wouldn't worry about it as long as you were honest with them up front.
Since you are not 'convicted' if you keep your self out of trouble, I would think they would.
